The DSV is the German “National Authority” (= national representation) in the World Sailing (formerly ISAF), the world umbrella organisation of sailing sports, as well as in the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) for ocean racing.
Furthermore, the DSV is an expert advisor to the federal and state governments when it comes to sailing – from traffic regulations to nature and environmental protection. The DSV is the representative for the whole variety of sailing: dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, sea and ocean sailing, match racing, sail surfing, ice sailing, beach sailing, model sailing, kite surfing.
Sail review / Sail inspection / Winter check
A sail is like all things on board, it is exposed to the hard strains of wind, water, UV-radiation, as well as mechanical ones, such as falling on the railing, shrouds, and spreaders. That is why we recommend our customers to have their sails professionally checked after the season, so that the coming season can be started safely and relaxed. A loose seam can cause fatal damage, which can then ruin the long planned trip at an inopportune moment.
The following points are taken into account in our review:
– Control of the profile / profit depth
– Check the fittings / webbing on head, neck and clew
– Inspection of the lashing tape / jib hanger for possible chafing
– Control of the sailing areas , Salingspatches
– Check the stern and foot lines and their clamps / covers
– Checking for UV radiation damage, especially on reefing genoas
– Check the batten pockets, end fittings and sliders

Sail repair – Our service for you
Whether the crack when recovering the gennaker or the flutter damage of your genoa, we repair the damage quickly and on time. But we don’t only put sails under our sewing machines, we also repair sprayhoods, tarpaulins and everything that needs to be sewn.
